A cinnamon roll still steaming, icing dripping down the side
Pulled at eight. Springfield. This morning.

Sunday, before the house is all the way awake

I made these because you like them warm.

Not as a shop. Not as a brand. I just wanted you to have a page that smelled like the kitchen when the pan comes out.

The dough sat overnight. Coffee first. Then the icing, while they could still take it. If it is not dripping, I put it back.

You always eat the corner. I always save it.

Icing melting into the swirl
This is the part I stay in the kitchen for.

There is a pecan one if you want something messier, and a berry one if you want it louder. The quiet one is the overnight. That is the one I made for you.

Three rolls on the counter
The extras. In case anyone else wakes up.
A tray by the window
Oregon light. Still a little cold outside.

If you can smell cinnamon in the hall, you are on time. Door is open. Plate is yours.
